Girl Scout Sunday is March 4 at 11:30 am mass at St. Mary Catholic Church in
Hudson, Ohio.

There will be practice on Thursday, March 1 from 5-6 pm for
those participating in the mass.

Please wear your smock, vest or sash and
arrive at 11:15 am to prepare to process in as a group. All girl scouts will sit
together in reserved seats in the front of the church.

If your troop
would like to participate, please contact Mary Abel at fiveabels@windstream.net or 330-463-5701.
Additionally, we are in need of 2-3 girls to bring up the gifts, a banner
carrier, 2-3 girls to read the petitions and a few older girls to serve as
hospitality ministers. Mary will coordinate all efforts so please be prepared to
leave a return email and/or phone number where you can be reached.

We will be having the Hudson Service  Unit Bridging Workshop on Friday, April 20, at East Woods Commons. The time will be finalized as we firm up the agenda, but plan on something from 6:00 - 8:30 or so (perhaps only 8:00 for Daisies, with Brownies/Juniors finishing later). As you recall, this is a purely optional event, but it does allow troops
that are bridging in May 2012 to satisfy all their requirements to earn the Rainbow Patch. We moved the event to a Friday night in an attempt to avoid spring sports and dance conflicts that are so frequent on Saturdays and back to an indoor event so that weather is not a factor. There will be a nominal fee per troop (generally $10 or less/troop) to cover supply costs. A registration form and price for the event will be sent out over the winter 2012 once our planning is complete. The workshop will have a musical theme this year,
with guest musicians and Girl Scout songs already in the works.

The Hudson Service Unit Bridging Ceremony will be on Monday, May 14, at the Hudson Middle School Auditorium. Again, we will finalize the times as the
event nears, but as we have done in years past, Daisies will go first, followed
by Brownies, with Juniors and Cadets going last. Like this workshop, this is an
optional event and your troop can have its own ceremony if you prefer. The fees
per girl will vary based on level of your scouts, but will include all the
pins/patches/certificates and a small cake/punch reception in the school
cafeteria. Hopefully returning to the school will keep our costs down and make
the parking/transition between groups much less congested than last year!

Q:  If you’re going CORE camping, if you’re not asked about training, do you need it?

**This answer from Lisa Ledell with GSNEO Council per Cynthia Barnes
A:  If you’re doing CORE camping  (overnight adventure) DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, leaders do NOT need to have training, BUT if you’re doing it during the summer, the answer is YES.

Congratulations and THANK YOU to Brenda Horton for stepping up to lead the Hudson Leaders through what is anticipated to be a great year of scouting! We are thrilled to have you in this new role and we know you will be tremendous. Certainly you will agree that you have very very large shoes to fill! We are sure your good friend, Lucy Kulbago, gave you some useful advice over the years as she lead us to be the skillful leaders we are today.

Lucy - we appreciate all of your hard work and dedication throughout the years. Perhaps the only way we can repay you for the abundant time and talents that you have shared with your fellow leaders is to pay it forward. We are very lucky that you will still be with us, sharing your scouting knowledge and joining us in supporting our new Service Leader. Thank you!

Cynthia Barnes has invited the Hudson leaders to our first meeting on Monday
August 29 at 7pm at Gloria Dei Church in Hudson. Cynthia is our new Membership
Specialist and has been with the Girl Scouts for more than two years. The
remaining dates for leader meetings will be updated soon on the calendar tab on
our website. See you then!
